Siemens Austria and the Bank Austria Creditanstalt have already anticipated the integration of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe into an economic region on an economic basis and see this as an important core market. It was therefore a logical step to transfer proven strategies and activities to increase mutual understanding in this region. The arts, with their ability to address individuals across borders and to set a visible example for openness and democracy, play a special role in this context.
Both Siemens and the Bank Austria Creditanstalt have a long tradition of supporting cultural projects with a special emphasis on the sponsoring of young artists. Siemens as a leading high-tech company offers young creators of art completely new presentation opportunities on the Internet platform www.artlab.at, in cooperation with the art gallery Ernst Hilger in Vienna. The Bank Austria Creditanstalt has been an active sponsor of contemporary art for 50 years.
The project "CENTRAL New Art from New Europe" was launched as a joint arts initiative by Siemens Austria, the Bank Austria Creditanstalt (HVB) and the gallery Ernst Hilger in Vienna as a platform for young, talented artists in the Central European region. Young artists from the participating countries are offered the opportunity to present their works of art to an interested audience in all these countries in joint exhibitions.
An Expansion of the own cultural area by means of the neighbouring Southeast European countries shall be achieved in cooperation with the gallery Ernst Hilger and furthermore a contact be established to the arts market, which goes beyond the exhibition activities.
Siemens and Bank Austria Creditanstalt furthermore offer the young artists:

  • An Internet platform on an international basis, including the homepages of Sioemens and bank Austria Creditanstalt (in total more than 500.000 views per month),
  • Sponsoring by means of grants and exchange programs,
  • Exhibitions at the artLab gallery in Vienna as well as presentation on the Internet on www.artlab.at,
  • Inclusion into art purchases of both companies.

New talented young artists are constantly integrated into the project. The selection of works of art on display are also constantly enhanced, updated and adapted to the specific location. The selection of works includes painting, drawing, photography and video art. Works of art from the following artists will be on display at the Galerija Škuc in Ljubljana:
