The
World of Art, School for Contemporary Art,
has been operating for ten years: it developed in 1997 out
of a need for theoretical and practical education in the
field of contemporary art in Slovenia.
This year,
the program Laboratorium is formed as part of the
effort of the World of Art to establish a platform for
discussion on curatorial practices in the field of
contemporary art.
The public
activities of Laboratorium take place at the Project Room
SCCA, discussions and reflections between the participants
also occur on the Internet (through forums and mailing
lists), and regular informal meetings.
Laboratorium is conceived experimentally, in order to avoid
the monotony of formal workings within the system and to
encourage constructive thinking and analysis of curatorial
practices in the past and also the present.
Laboratorium is also focused at analysis, contextualisation
and valorization of the former achievements of the World of
Art which, as the only Slovene program in the field of
education in contemporary art, has formed a generation of
young Slovene curators.
